Dear brothers and sisters of GMC and friends,

I am very glad to write to all of you again. I always treasure this opportunity as I will not do it all the time. I will be leaving GMC at the beginning of next year for 2 years for my Master of Theology in BM at Kota Kinabalu Sabah Theological Seminary. My family will stay back in Miri for 2 years. Praise the Lord for the provision for a house at Lutong Baru.

Praise the Lord that the LCEC of GMC has decided to do Reading Bus as encouraged by Pastor Cheli 2 months back. It is a mobile library that will make a difference for Jesus. We will reach out to the indigenous children and adults of Tudan. It is about 25 minutes drive from GMC. We will teach them to read English literature like the Lady Bird. One project will last for 3 months, we will go fortnightly and lend them books to read. Let us pray that at the same time, we will preach to them through Village Alpha. I pray that eventually, other Methodist churches will follow suit. Ultimately, it must spread throughout Sarawak villages and kampongs. Pray that these whom we reach out will become disciples of Jesus.

Last weekend I attended the Methodist Heritage organized by Wesley Methodist Church. The speaker, Rev Dr Steve Harper was so inspiring and down to earth in his approach of spiritual formation. I am particularly affirmed by his emphasis on the need of making disciples in our society. We need to call ourselves disciples of Jesus. His great points of our ministry is not determined by results but by our perseverance is so reassuring to me because if our ministry is not fruitful and tough, at times we think of giving up. But what he said encouraged me not to give up if the calling was from Jesus.

Dear brothers and sisters of GMC and friends,

Praise the Lord I find time to write a few sentences to you again.

I find training the interns for small group leadership a very refreshing experience. There were 8 of them coming for meeting. I could see their eagerness of learning. Especially the presence of sisters Regina Tan and Yee Ming Chu encouraged me a lot. First of all, they purposely turned up as small group leaders just to accompany their interns. Sister Regina Tan confessed that she prayed for 5 of the interns to come. That strikes me and made me feel that she was really committed to small group ministry.

Praise the Lord for Pastor Cheli of Bethany Home of Kuching is in his final stage of transferring the title of their Landcruiser to GMC. Last Friday, brother Aaron, Pastor Connie Yong (SMCGC) and one brohter, brother Richard Lin, Rev Chang Jing Mei (Tudan Methodist Church) and sister Siman (Tudan Methodist Church) met at Senadin for breakfast, we briefed them on the reading bus project to be done at Tudan Church. They were positive and we hope to start October, 2010. Let us pray that it will materialize.

Praise the Lord for last week I discover from the school results of my twins (primary 5, Tobias and Elliot, a dyslexia) that they have improved. They passed 4 out of 6 subjects. They used to fail more subjects. I see that as me and my wife and church members prayed, God helps us through school teachers, tutors and caring brothers and sisters. It is a great encouragement in my walk with Jesus. I strongly believe that they will get better as we guide them and love them.

A Disciple of Jesus,

Pastor Law Hui Seng

Dear brothers and sisters of GMC and friends,

Praise the Lord I find time to write to you again. In the last 2 weeks I was so busy with counseling, visitations and bible studies that I could not find time to do it.

I learnt something last week, it was very significant. I see with my own eyes and felt it by myself. Someone confessed to me that he had peace and yet it was lack of vision in life make him feel no sense of purpose in life. So, peace is not everything in life. In life, you need vision to move you to go on and face tomorrow. For me, it is really very true. For me, I receive visions from God on how to use my life on earth and I work towards. It makes my life forward looking.

God gave me a vision to train more BM speaking pastors. So, there is this need to equip myself in master of theology in BM. Praise the Lord, I am told by Dean of Studies (Sabah Theological Seminary) to go ahead to plan for my studies next year. Upon graduation by 2012, I can be at least be part time lecturer and a full time pastor. My plan is to start to lecture one or two subjects in BM first and build up a BM theological department in Sibu Theological School. This is an uphill task as it will be full of obstacles!

Today at the service of GMC is very eventful for us. It is quite a milestone for us as GMC witnesses the first badge of sign language graduation. I pray that the 21 students who graduated will take up the challenge to seek the hearing impaired people and draw them into the kingdom of God. I pray that it will come a day when GMC will conduct service for a hearing impaired congregation!

I am amazed by a few students who can do sign language on stage (including my wife). I find one common thing in them, that is they all have the interest to learn.

I pray that God will give you His visions from above so that you catch it and you will always work at the vision.

A faithful disciple of Jesus,

Pastor Law Hui Seng
