Dear brothers and sisters of GMC and friends,

Today is the Dedication service for the new Tudan Methodist Church. What is most meaningful about this great event? My points are as follows:

a. It is the first Bahasa Malaysia church of Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference. It is located in the midst of poor Tudan resettled indigenous people. This church must become salt and light for Tudan settlers, most of them are Ibans. Praise the Lord I was there doing the pioneering works in the year 2004 till 2006.

b. It is a great testimony of Methodist connectionalism at work. The state government gives a piece of land. We built a church of more than RM1.3 million. We raised most fund from Miri District; the rest we get from SCAC, Kuching, Bintulu, Sibu, Sarikei, Brunei, Limbang, State and Federal governments and even Singapore and United States. Another aspect of connectionalism is from her beginning in November, 2004 until today, manpower supply to help the church is coming from a few other Methodist churches in the District. We received manpower help from Mei Ann, Hwai En, Life, Grace, and Yi En. Quite a few brothers and sisters from GMC have helped from the beginning until now. Some of the very faithful ones are Margaret Lee, Charles Ling, Audrey Lui, Edward Woodford and William Ketit. In its very beginning, years 2004 and 2005, brother Mak Met was instrumental in spearheading the BM ministry. Eventually it was taken over by brother Wong Kung Kui.

c. This church has the potential to become a model church for the other BM congregations of the Methodist Churches throughout Sarawak. I pray that this church will produce many disciples of Jesus. It will produce many students and missionaries. I pray that I will have the privilege to train some of them to BM speaking pastors. May this church become a pastor and missionary sending church in every sense.

Dear brothers and sisters of GMC and friends,

Praise the Lord for giving me good health to write to you again.

On Thursday and Friday, I and 5 others did a mission survey at Long Urun, Sg Asaph, Ulu Belaga and also, Long Malin, Ulu Belaga. It was a tiring, difficult and dangerous journey as the timber and oil palm roads are bad and full of dust. Praise the Lord for the very experienced drivers like brother Peter Yong from GMC and brother Hii Doh Chin, from Bintulu Gloria Methodist Church.

Praise the Lord, majority of the Penans of Long Urun are going to school. Most of their men worked in palm oil plantations and timber camps. Nearby their long houses, there is a primary school. There are SIB and RC churches. So, we do not consider to go back there.

The second Penan settlement which we surveyed, Long Malin, 2 hours of solid and dangerous drive from Camp Plieran, where our 5 missionaries stayed, there are about 100 Penans . Majority of men are going to work at timber camps. This place is going to be flooded for the Murum Dam. Penans built their own long house and homes. Some of the Penans do not have the means to send their children to go to school. We were told at least 15 of them. SIB pastor, Ajeng only go back to visit them twice a year! With the exception of a few persons, the rest are not baptized! They claim that they are all Christians. They even conduct regular Sunday service on their own. We decide to go back to do some teaching of God’s word, and do social concerns. I pray that brother Joseph Tan of Yi En Methodist church will lead a team to do it. He joined us in this mission survey, he has the burden to do it.

Dear brothers and sisters and friends of GMC,

Praise the Lord I am to write to you with strong sense of mission.

Last week I was in Kuching for 4 days for training 44 pastors and lay people in International Leadership Institute. I was not feeling well on Tuesday and Wednesday. Praise the Lord I was able to teach and train them. I taught and preached on passion for the harvest , practice of evangelism and church planting. I was able to do with strong conviction, motivation, fire and full of the Holy Spirit. Some of them really catch the godly fire to have compassion for the lost. It was worth the investment of my time, energy and my sacrifice.

Today I preached against corruption, I pray that my sermon will result in the children of God repenting from corruption.

A faithful disciple of Jesus,
