Dear brothers and sisters of GMC and friends,
Today is the Dedication service for the new Tudan Methodist Church. What is most meaningful about this great event? My points are as follows:
a. It is the first Bahasa Malaysia church of Sarawak Chinese Annual Conference. It is located in the midst of poor Tudan resettled indigenous people. This church must become salt and light for Tudan settlers, most of them are Ibans. Praise the Lord I was there doing the pioneering works in the year 2004 till 2006.
b. It is a great testimony of Methodist connectionalism at work. The state government gives a piece of land. We built a church of more than RM1.3 million. We raised most fund from Miri District; the rest we get from SCAC, Kuching, Bintulu, Sibu, Sarikei, Brunei, Limbang, State and Federal governments and even Singapore and United States. Another aspect of connectionalism is from her beginning in November, 2004 until today, manpower supply to help the church is coming from a few other Methodist churches in the District. We received manpower help from Mei Ann, Hwai En, Life, Grace, and Yi En. Quite a few brothers and sisters from GMC have helped from the beginning until now. Some of the very faithful ones are Margaret Lee, Charles Ling, Audrey Lui, Edward Woodford and William Ketit. In its very beginning, years 2004 and 2005, brother Mak Met was instrumental in spearheading the BM ministry. Eventually it was taken over by brother Wong Kung Kui.
c. This church has the potential to become a model church for the other BM congregations of the Methodist Churches throughout Sarawak. I pray that this church will produce many disciples of Jesus. It will produce many students and missionaries. I pray that I will have the privilege to train some of them to BM speaking pastors. May this church become a pastor and missionary sending church in every sense.
A faithful disciple of Jesus,
Pastor Law Hui Seng (26th September, 2010)
